Microbiology Laboratory

The laboratory has the permits allowing to deal with RG3 and RG4 microorganisms.

1st qualification category bacteriologist with over 17 years of experience in the filed.

Equipment:

  • VITEK-2 COMPACT automated microbial identification system is used to detect microorganisms and fungi and to carry out antibiotic sensitivity and antifungal susceptibility tests;
  • Bact/Alert microbial detection system is used to detect microorganisms in the blood, cerebrospinal fluid and sterile biological substrates. We can promptly determine the cause of pyelonephritis and urinary infections.

Types of Tests:

  1. Urine test to detect microorganisms and to determine antibiotic sensitivity.

The results are available on the 2nd day after the test, if there is no growth of microorganisms in in the urine sample.

The results are available within 4-5 days after the test, if there is a growth of clinically important microorganisms.

Requirements: You need to provide a clean catch urine sample. It is better to collect the sample in the morning. Thoroughly wash your genitals with warm water and soap. Urinate in a clean sterile cup (at least 1 ml of urine is required.)

  1. Microbiology test of nasal and throat swabs to detect microorganisms and determine antibiotic sensitivity.

The results are available within 4-5 days.

The swab is taken before or 2-3 hours after meals.

  1. Microbiology test of breast milk (for sterility)

The results are available within 3-4 days.

Requirements: thoroughly wash your hands with soap, treat your nipples and breast area with antiseptic (treat each breast with a separate sponge). Pour off the first 5-10 ml of expressed breast milk. Express the next 3-4 ml of breast milk into sterile cups (collect the milk from each breast into a separate cup). Deliver the sample to the laboratory within 2 hours.

  1. Microbiology test for Staphylococcus aureus (nasal, throat swab)

The results are available within 3-4 days.

  1. Microbiology testing of wound fluids, infiltrates, etc.

The results are available within 3-4 days.

  1. Test for group A Streptococcus (rapid test of nasal swab to detect the streptococcal infection).

The results of the tests are available on the day of swab collection.
